TONI STONE
July 17, 1921 - November 2, 1996
Toni Stone was an American female professional baseball player who played in predominantly male leagues.
In 1953, she became the first woman to play as a regular on an American major-level professional baseball them when she joined the Indianapolis Clowns in the previously all-male Negro leagues.
BABE DIDRICKSON ZAHARIAS
June 26, 1911 - September 27, 1956
Mildred (Babe) Didrikson Zaharias dominated women's sports from the 1930s through the 1950s.
The 1932 Los Angeles Olympics made Babe Didrikson a celebrity. Already a world record-holder in multiple events, she won gold medals in the javelin and hurdles and silver in the high jump. At the age of 24, she took up golf and quickly became the top women's player.
Babe and her husband, wrestler George Zaharias, helped found the Ladies' Professional Golf Association in 1950.
